Daman Discovery
2 Days | 1 Night
Trip Overview
Just a short distance from Kathmandu lies Daman, one of Nepal’s best-kept secrets.
This ride blends adventure, history and local charm into a two-day journey that captures the essence of Nepal’s mid-hills.
The adventure begins with a ride up the Chandragiri Cable Car a place of deep spiritual significance that once served as a gateway between the ancient kingdoms of Kathmandu and Makwanpur. From the top, panoramic views of the Langtang, Ganesh, Manaslu and Annapurna ranges stretch across the horizon.
Dropping into the picturesque valley of Chitlang, we follow the old trading trail that once linked India with the Kathmandu Valley - the same route where Nepal’s very first car was famously carried by porters over the hills in the early 1900s. Along the way, we sample local cheese, taste Nepal’s only valley-made wine, and roll past the quirky “Giant Cauliflower and Potato” sculpture. The route climbs through pine forests to Daman, a hilltop outpost with unbeatable Himalayan views and a surprisingly lush botanical garden.
On the second day, the trail winds through rhododendron forest, hidden lakes, and quiet Tamang villages before returning to the valley with tired legs and full hearts.
Trip Highlights
Start your adventure with the scenic Chandragiri Cable Car and Himalayan panorama.
Ride through Chitlang, one of Nepal’s oldest trade-route valleys.
Visit the famous Chitlang Cheese Factory and local winery.
Explore Daman’s botanical gardens and mountain-view terraces.
End with a cultural spin through Dakshinkali and Kirtipur.
Visiting the Iconic “ Alu Cauli “
Itinerary
We begin the morning by taking the Chandragiri Cable Car up to the valley rim (2,500 m) for sweeping mountain views and a short visit to the Chandragiri temple complex. From here, we drop into the beautiful Chitlang valley, known for its orchards, stone trails and traditional homestays. The valley’s history stretches back to the Licchavi period, and its cobbled lanes still echo with stories of traders and pilgrims. We stop at the local winery and the historic Chitlang Cheese Factory before continuing toward Palung, passing the curious roadside “giant cauliflower and potato” sculpture. The day finishes in Daman with a visit to the botanical gardens and a well-earned sauna at our hilltop lodge.

An early morning start rewards us with one of the best Himalayan panoramas in Nepal — from Dhaulagiri in the west to Everest in the east. We ride up toward Sim Bhanjyang, a quiet Tamang settlement perched above the valley, then follow off-road trails through old-growth rhododendron forest to the hidden lake at Khule Khani. The route rolls steadily on backroads, eventually dropping toward the sacred Dakshinkali Mandir, a temple dedicated to the goddess Kali. Our journey ends in the historic town of Kirtipur, where we refuel on traditional Newari food before returning to Kathmandu.

Mountains and Monasteries
2 Days | 1 Night
Trip Overview
This two-day valley ride is a mix of culture, countryside and climbing. We leave the city behind and head east toward Sankhu, one of the oldest towns in the valley. Lunch on the ridge comes with wide views of the Himalayas, from Langtang to Everest, before we cruise along quiet backroads to Dhulikhel for the night.
The second day is pure variety. We climb up to Namobuddha Monastery on a cobbled road surrounded by pine trees and prayer flags, one of Nepal’s most peaceful Buddhist sites. After lunch and a walk through the monastery grounds, we drop down through the terraced fields to Panauti, an ancient Newar town filled with temples and traditional homes. The ride ends with a last climb over Lakuri Bhanjyang and an easy roll into Patan. We finish the day exploring its narrow alleys, tasting local Newari food and reflecting on a ride that blends Nepal’s culture, nature and spirit perfectly.

A cold beer, a natural hot spring and a mountain sunset.
