All you need to know about

Gravel Riding in Nepal

Big climbs, rolling descents, jungle trails, high desert, and the world's tallest peaks on the horizon.
Nepal is just waking up as a gravel destination, and we're proud to be among the first to stitch these epic routes together.
For strong riders, the routes test legs and lungs. For mellow explorers, lower-altitude loops let you cruise, shoot photos, and soak in the culture.
Some days feel wild and remote; others are slow and soulful. Think tea breaks, village life, and endless views.
Our rides are fully supported (unless you're bikepacking), so you can focus on the pedalling while we handle the rest — seamlessly, from airport to airport.
Every trip is custom-built around your fitness, style, and schedule. Talk to a pro and let's design your dream gravel ride in Nepal.

Let’s Build Your Ride

No two riders are the same, and no two trips need to be. Whether you want to climb high passes, link lakes and temples, or mix your gravel tour with rafting, yoga or a pool day in Pokhara,  we can make it happen.

Talk to our professional team today and we’ll help plan your perfect ride, from single-day shakedowns to full-blown Himalayan gravel expeditions.

Terrain & Surfaces

Expect a mix of dirt roads, quiet backroads, and short sections of pavement. Most routes run through rural areas with little to no traffic. The climbs can be tough and the descents long and addictive. This is Nepal — sometimes smooth, sometimes rough, always rewarding.

Weather & Seasons

  • Spring (Mar–May) – Warm days, cool nights, dry trails. Perfect all-round conditions.

  • Monsoon (Jun–Sep) – Hot, humid, wet. Great for rain shadow rides.

  • Autumn (Oct–Nov) – Clear skies, stable weather, big views. Prime season.

  • Winter (Dec–Feb) – Cool days, cold nights, dry trails in the mid hills.

Culture & Local Life

As you move through the hills, the cultures change, Gurung, Magar, Tamang, Thakali and Newar communities each bring their own language, dress and traditions. You’ll pass prayer walls, chortens, tiny temples and endless tea stops. Smiles are easy, curiosity is genuine, and every encounter adds colour to the ride.

A: You’re welcome to bring your own bike if you love it, but most riders prefer to rent locally. It saves the stress of airline damage, excess luggage fees and hauling bike boxes around. We work with trusted partners to provide quality gravel and mountain bikes, all properly fitted before your first ride.
A: Every trip is different. Some are mellow and social with lots of breaks and cultural stops, while others push the limits with long climbs and altitude. We rate each ride for Fitness, Technical and Style so you can pick the one that suits you best.
A: Think variety - smooth gravel, red-clay jeep roads, quiet village lanes and a few short paved stretches near towns. Some sections can be rough or loose, others roll like butter. It’s all part of the Himalayan mix and what makes the riding here so special.
A: Our itineraries are built with smart altitude planning. We climb gradually, include acclimatisation days where needed and keep a close eye on everyone’s comfort. Your guides are trained to manage altitude issues and will always prioritise your safety.
A: The most reliable seasons are October–November and March–May, with clear skies, mild temperatures and great trail conditions. Lower altitude rides can be done almost year-round, while high-mountain adventures need those crisp, dry windows.
A: You’ll need your own helmet, gloves, padded shorts, breathable riding tops, a light rain/wind jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, hydration bottles or pack, and casual clothes for evenings. We’ll send a full packing list for your specific tour.
A: Your main luggage is transported by vehicle between overnight stops, so you only ride with a small daypack or handlebar bag. The limit is 20 kg per person. Our support team ensures your bags are waiting at each destination.
A: Yes. There’s reliable Wi-Fi or mobile data almost everywhere we ride — even many teahouses have a connection. Nepal’s 4G coverage is surprisingly broad, especially in the mid-hills and valleys.
A: Definitely. All hotels have power outlets in rooms, and teahouses provide charging in the common areas. Bring a universal adapter and power bank if you’re using multiple devices.
A: Yes. You can leave extra luggage safely in our partner hotels in Kathmandu or Pokhara, and we’ll store bike boxes or travel cases securely at our Himalayan Single Track / Gravel Bikes Nepal office.
A: Expect clean, comfortable and locally run lodges or boutique hotels with good food and hot showers. On remote routes we use authentic teahouses — simple but welcoming, with warm beds, shared dining areas and hearty meals.
A: Airport transfers, domestic flights or drives, professional guides, accommodation, meals as noted, support vehicle, luggage transfers, permits, and all logistics. Bike rental and add-ons like rafting or spa days are optional extras.
A: A 20 percent deposit confirms your booking, payable by international bank transfer. The remaining balance is due on arrival in Nepal and can be paid by credit card or cash in major currencies.
A: Absolutely. Every ride we run can be tweaked to match your schedule, ability and interests. Want an easier pace, extra rest day or a few nights of added comfort? We’ll design it your way.
A: Most nationalities can get a Tourist Visa on arrival at Kathmandu Airport (15, 30 or 90 days). We handle all required local permits. Comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical evacuation and helicopter rescue is required.
A: Each trip has professional local guides, a support vehicle (where accessible), and a logistics team for luggage and coordination. You ride light and focus on the fun.
A: A delicious mix of Nepali and international dishes — think local dal bhat, momos, curries, fresh vegetables and mountain coffee. We cater to most dietary preferences; just let us know in advance.
A: Yes. Many of our routes include cultural sightseeing, short hikes and relaxing lodges. Partners can travel in the support vehicle and still enjoy the adventure.
A: Flexibility is part of adventure travel. Our guides know alternate routes and will adjust plans to keep you safe and smiling.
A: Not necessarily. If your tour includes altitude, we’ll brief you on pacing, hydration and nutrition. A good base fitness helps, and we build in plenty of time to adapt.
